Tour itinerary

Day 01: Evening trip from Bromo area for Ijen blue fire tour - Banyuwangi

  • Around at 18:00 or at least at 19:00 pm, our experienced driver will pick you up either from Problinggo, Pasuruan or Mount Bromo area, and then we will proceed to drive for about 5 – 7 hours driving to reach to the parking area in Ijen crater which is well known as post 1 Paltuding or as starting point for trekking of Ijen crater tours. On this journey, we will drive slowly and you may wanna stop on the way for having meals, drinks (coffee or tea) or just stop for getting public toilet before we reach the base camp of Paltuding.

  • On your arrival time in the base camp of Paltuding, we will re-check the trekking equipment, such as: torch or flashlight & gas mask. If you do not have gas mask, you can rent it to local people or mining worker who will be ready in the parking area of Ijen crater. Do not forget to keep well your stamina, and we will pray before for starting to do climbing Mount Ijen crater. The climbing to Ijen crater will need for about 1.5 – 2.5 hours (it is depend on your stamina) to reach peak of Mount Ijen. If the weather is good enough, you may see the Milky Way on the top of Mount Ijen but you are required o use your Smartphone apps

  • From the top of Mount Ijen, you will be accompanied by our staff and sulfur mining worker who are expert with the paths on the Ijen Crater to descend to reach to the Crater area where the mining worker looking for chunk of sulfur which comes from sulfur liquid that flows through a special pipe which are prepared by them before. The other side, the crater area will display the main attraction for the visitors and it is popular and well known as blue fire or blue flame.

  • The blue fire in Ijen Crater is ignited by natural of sulphuric gas, which emerges from cracks at temperatures up to 600 degrees Celsius (1,112 degrees Fahrenheit) and the flames can be up to 5 meters (16 feet) high; some of the gas condenses to liquid and is still ignited. It is the largest blue flame area in the world and local people refer to it as blue fire. 

  • After enjoy spectacular view of blue fire in Ijen crater, we will ascend back to the top of Ijen crater to see sunrise and afterward, you will see also green lake of sulfur and daily activities of mining worker in Ijen Crater with natural backgrounds surrounding.  Resting on the edge of the crater at an altitude of 2883 meters and enjoy best panorama of the lake of sulfate where reflects spectacular view in the surrounding walls to give the impression like unforgettable thing.

  • The sulfur mining workers go down into the crater and climb back up by passing dangerous path on the edge of Ijen crater with the load as much as 80 kilograms on their shoulders. This is really a dangerous and hard job. Here also, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery in the crater of Ijen as one of God’s amazing creation. Do not forget to take pictures in this area as a proof that you have visited one of the most amazing places on earth.

  • After enjoyed the natural scenery of Ijen crater with sunrise view and green lake of sulfur as well and then around at 07:00 am, you will descend the slope by passing the same paths as like you have done it for climbing of Ijen crater.
